Only God Is the True Refuge

Psalm 91 since the beginning of covid-19 this verse is often used by God's servants and the church when they deliver the word of God or want to read it. As we read the truth of God's word it greatly strengthens our faith as believers.

The thing we need to pay attention to, our author of Psalm 91 is if we pay attention to the context that is Moses. Because Psalm 91 is a continuation of Psalm 90. Where Psalm 91 is the answer to Moses' prayer (Psalm 90: 1).

At that time Moses begged for mercy from God to forgive the sins of the people of Israel, because they did not want to trust God. So the Lord was angry with them because they did not seek refuge in the Lord (Psalm 90: 7-8,17).

To continue in Psalm 91: 1-16 explains that everyone who takes refuge in the Most High will be protected and helped by God.

So when we read Psalm 91 we are reminded of the story of the Israelites when they were in the wilderness. When they remain and sit in the protection of the Most High, the result is that they are safe. For example, when they were attacked by the Egyptians, plague and others.

But when they forgot God and escaped God's protection. The problem comes and makes them lose themselves because of their mistakes. Where God punishes them so that they return and repent.

The lesson we take from Psalm 91 is that as long as you remain in God's protection, He will be the guarantee of your life. But when you break free from His protection, He is firm and educates you to return to the right path.

But sometimes we as believers do not understand, why do believers have problems? I say it is a test of faith like the story of Job and the disciples of the Lord Jesus.

When you are in a difficult problem. There are two things you need to remember, the problem arises because of SIN or the TEST OF FAITH. If you realize the problem arises because of sin you repent and return to God's ways. But when you know the problem arises as a test of faith, still believe that the trials you are going through are not beyond your strength. Amen ..
